This Cookie Policy explains how UseWhat uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website and use our service.

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used.

Cookies we use

We use essential cookies required for the service to function (such as authentication and session cookies), and analytics cookies that help us understand usage so we can improve the product.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the service from working correctly.

Third-party cookies

Some cookies may be set by third-party services we use, such as analytics or payment providers. Their use of cookies is governed by their own policies.

Advertising and measurement cookies

When you consent, we use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Facebook and Instagram. This sets two cookies: _fbp, which identifies your browser, and _fbc, which records that you arrived from a Meta advertisement. Both are set for our domain and typically expire within 90 days (they are set by Meta, not by us).

When you consent, we also use Google Tag Manager to run Google Ads conversion measurement, which tells us when a visit from a Google ad leads to a sign-up or enquiry. Google may set cookies such as _gcl_au (records ad clicks and conversions, typically 90 days) and, where Google Analytics tags are enabled, _ga and _ga_* (distinguish visitors, up to 2 years). These are set by Google, not by us.

We also set uw_consent, which records whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies so that we do not ask again on every page. It expires after 180 days and is set whichever choice you make.

If you reject, no Meta or Google advertising cookies are set and no advertising script is loaded. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
